Here, in his latest monthly column reflecting on the news over the past month, our Press and PR Executive Robin Johnson looks at the headlines.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For my generation, the theme tune to the long-running (too long in my opinion) Australian soap \u2018Neighbours\u2019 was pretty much part of our childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many of us, after coming home from school, it would be kids\u2019 programmes followed by the latest antics of the residents on Ramsay Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally speaking, the opening strains of Neighbours reminded me it was time for football practice or to do some homework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suffice to say, the telly would be duly switched off before anyone got the opportunity to tell someone to \u201crack off\u201d while sporting a generous mullet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Neighbours is not watched as religiously as it was back in the 1980s and 1990s \u2013 I think it\u2019s safe to say that almost everyone still recognises the theme tune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And okay, the lyrics aren\u2019t exactly Dylan or Lennon, but they\u2019re true enough \u2013 everybody needs good neighbours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here at Marketing Derby<\/a>, we work hard to attract new businesses to the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our hope is when they arrive here, they settle, integrate themselves into the community and become part of what we like to call \u2018Team Derby\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, they become \u201cgood neighbours\u201d because, as the Neighbours theme rightly points out, good neighbours can \u201cbecome good friends\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A case in point is Wavensmere Home<\/a>. Headquartered in Birmingham, through its investments in Derby, it has become a most welcome addition to the city\u2019s business community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And through its work creating more than 900 homes at Nightingale Quarter, it has helped Derby city centre welcome many new neighbours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the coming years, there will be thousands more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the beginning of October, Wavensmere received the green light for Cathedral One \u2013 a brand-new apartments scheme in the Cathedral Quarter, overlooking the River Derwent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
