Derbyshire Wildlife Trust<\/a> has renewed an appeal to raise \u00a31.2 million to restore and rewild 135 acres of land in the heart of Derbyshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The land at Middleton Moor, currently species-poor grassland, is nestled between Derbyshire Wildlife Trust nature reserves at Dunsley Meadows, Gang Mine, Rose End Meadows, Slinter Woods and Hopton Quarry.<\/p>\n\n\n

Back in September, the trust launched its appeal to raise enough cash to secure the moor and complete a 1,000-acre corridor of nature-rich habitat, allowing nature to move freely and thrive across the landscape, while benefiting local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It now has until 30 November to reach its target. So far, it has received over 1,600 donations \u2013 but is calling on the public to help raise the final funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dave Savage, landscape recovery manager at Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, said: \u201cWe are so grateful for the support we have already received for this once in a lifetime opportunity and hope our appeal is successful in allowing us to create an oasis for wildlife, which future generations can come and enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
